Show #30 – Mini Me (You Complete Me)

Tech News

If you’re a Facebook member and have visited the site recently, you have noticed the redeisnged interface and fucntionality of the site.  Unfortunately, a lot of members do not like the new look and feel of it.  As a result of this change, Hundreds of thousands of Facebook members gave a thumbs down by starting Facebook groups against the re-design.  Just search Facebook for “redesign of facebook” and you’ll find some interesting groups there.  Also keep in mind there are some groups that are for the re-design.

In my opinion, the new design is nice.  I like the way infomration about your friends are fed to you.  You’re able to see a bunch of information about what your friends are doing on facebook.  Really neat.  I compared the new front page look of Facebook to Twitter

Listener Question:

Koolguy asked: I dunno what parts I should use to make a good computer for Mass Effect, Bioshock, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 1-2, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and Jade Empire.  Any ideas?

Thanks, Koolguy

Show #28 – Gamejabber.com

I want to thank Alan and Will, members of Gamejabber.com for joining me and providing us with valuable content for the show.

We squeezed a lot of information in on this show, so if there are any questions, please send them to techwithmike@gmail.com or call our voicemail line at 508-471-HELP.  Also, if you would like to ask Will (Detrill) or Alan (Tengaport) questions about what they talked about on the show, please go to Gamejabber.com, sign up if you don’t already have an account, and send them a private message.  I’m sure they would be happy to answer your questions.

At the beginning of the show, I talked about what Gamejabber.com is all about and what you can expect on the site when you visit it.  I gave my thanks to all the Gamejabber members for supporting the site since Saturday August 27th, 2005.  It’s been a great 3 years and hope to have many more. The site started off as a Halo 2 Clan site for the ELE clan and evolved to the wonderful community it is today.

We talked about all the different types of gaming consoles that are available, and some that will be available soon.  We also talked talked about what games we are looking forward to play this year.  In addition to that, we discsussed the hardware capabilities of each console, the differences between the Nintendo DS Lite and the DSI, Xbox Live and Tengaports fetish with the DS (listen to the show for this one).

Please check back with TechwithMike.com to find information about future gaming shows.

Daveac’s Tips

He talked about setting the priority of a process to limit a program on how much processor power it uses.

  1. Right Click in empty space on task bar and select ‘Task Manager’
  2. Go to the ‘Processes’ tab
  3. Find the process taking up CPU cycles
  4. Right click process and select ‘set affinity’ then choose the CPU you would like that process to use.

No more sidebar:  The sidebar that holds all the gagets can be closed and have the gagets put directly on the desktop.

  1. Click and drag each gaget that you want to save onto the desktop.
  2. Right click the sidebar and select ‘Close Sidebar’

NOTE: To get the sidebar back, simply right click a gaget and select ‘ATTACH TO SIDEBAR’ then drag other gagets back into it.
